Police have named two people who were found dead in a house in South Staffordshire.

Officers were called to Alpine Drive in Hednesford at 12.30pm on Tuesday afternoon after being alerted by West Midlands Ambulance Service.

In an update, Staffordshire Police say formal identification has not taken place but they believe the bodies are those of 22-year-old Lauren Evans, from South Wales, and 24-year-old Daniel Duffield , of Cannock.

A murder investigation is already underway and the families of the deceased are being supported by specially trained officers.

The force also referred the police watchdog to previous contacts they had.

Detective Superintendent Nicki Addison, from our Major Investigations Department, said: “My thoughts are very much with the families at this time.

“I know this news has shaken the local community. I would like to reassure everyone that we have a team of specialist officers working long hours to fully investigate what happened and to support the families of those affected.

“We fully understand that many people want to know more about what happened, but we would like to reiterate that speculation is not helpful to families at this difficult time.

“I would like to thank everyone who has already come forward with information and ask that people continue to get in touch if they have information that can help us.”
