The masked trio entered the Co-op in Desford and bought cigarettes and alcohol

Staff watched in shock as a trio of masked men burst into a shop in the village and took cigarettes and alcohol before fleeing. Leicestershire Police said they were called to the Co-op in High Street, Desford, near Leicester, at around 9.40pm yesterday – 20 minutes before the store closed.

Police said no one was injured and no one was threatened during the robbery. No arrests have been made and the force said inquiries are continuing into what happened.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: “I can confirm that we are investigating an incident at a shop in Desford. It was reported that at around 9.40pm yesterday (Wednesday 26 June) three masked men entered the shop on the High Street and stole what is believed to be. be cigarettes and alcohol.

“No threats were made and no one was assaulted. No arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident 776 of June 26.”

Staff at the store today declined to comment.
