Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall transfer: £40m rivals, deadline looming, Leicester City position

There are only a few days left until the end of the month and for many clubs that means it’s a battle.

June 30 marks the closing of the accounts for the 23-24 season and so parties are working to balance the books to avoid breaching the Profitability and Sustainability Rules. Leicester City are among the clubs in trouble, with the EFL long predicting they would break the bank.

As such, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s future is a controversial one. As an academy graduate, his sale would go into the accounts as pure profit and would be hugely beneficial to City’s bid to comply with financial regulations. Here’s everything you need to know about the future of the club’s star midfielder.

What is the last one?

In recent days, reports of interest in Dewsbury-Hall have resurfaced. Brighton made a bid of around £20million in January, a bombshell at the time, but it wasn’t enough for City to part ways with their main man midway through a promotion bid. The Telegraph report that the Seagulls remain keen on the 25-year-old as they look to strengthen new manager Fabian Hurzeler’s squad.

In January, Brentford were another side listed as suitors for Dewsbury-Hall and they are also said to retain an interest. The Mail report that the Bees will rival Brighton for the midfielder, but will have to part with £40million to sign him, which would eclipse both sides’ record fees.
