Tragedy as 45-year-old man dies after being pulled from River Aire

A man who was pulled from the river at Saltaire, Bradford, on Saturday afternoon has sadly died in hospital.

The 45-year-old man was pulled from the River Aire near The Boathouse pub near Roberts Park at around 2pm. Firefighters, police and paramedics went to the scene.

West Yorkshire Police initially said the man’s death was being treated as “unexplained” while the investigation continues. Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

Today, a force spokesman released an update on the investigation, saying: “The death of the man in the river at Saltaire is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.”

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it was called by firefighters at 2.20pm to reports of a man in the water. They took one person to Bradford Royal Infirmary. Fire crews from Bradford and Bingley attended the scene and pulled the man from the river.
