Manchester United are reportedly hoping to make two new additions to their coaching staff ahead of next season.

Several sources have already confirmed the Red Devils’ interest in reuniting with legendary striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. Although initially expected to become Burnley’s next head coach, he now looks set to join Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff at Old Trafford.

However, he may not be the only Dutchman the club’s hierarchy bring in this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Mancunian outfit are also looking to add Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake to their new coaching staff for next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are “confident and ready” to sign new contracts for Erik ten Hag, as well as the two new members of the squad, Van Nistelrooy and Hake.

They feel confident of luring Hake from the Go Ahead Eagles, even if it means the 52-year-old will have to sacrifice his role as head coach at the Eredivisie club.

The tactician recently guided the Eagles to an impressive ninth-placed finish in the 2023/24 campaign, which was comfortably their best season in over a decade.

Meanwhile, Hake and Ten Hag aren’t just familiar with each other; they go way back! They started their coaching journeys together at FC Twente. In fact, Ten Hag even played a vital role in appointing Hake as Twente’s Under 19 coach.

Apart from a strong bond, the duo also share a similar footballing philosophy. Like Ten Hag, Hake also prefers all his players to be involved in both the attacking and defensive aspects of the game – a fact that makes this a very thoughtful appointment by the new hierarchy of of Manchester United.

It is still unclear what exact role Hake and Van Nistelrooy will play at the Old Trafford outfit. To add to the uncertainty, questions also linger over the future of Ten Hag’s current trusted assistant Mitchell van der Gaag.
