Coventry girl disqualified from driving after ignoring tickets

A COVENTRY girl has been disqualified from driving after failing to respond to a speeding ticket.

Brijal Mardania, 19, of Leamington Road, was sentenced at magistrates’ court on June 18, where she was disqualified from driving for two years and fined £1,980.

She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £792 and costs of £110.

The sentence relates to three counts of failing to provide driver details after the Warwickshire Road Safety Unit received no response to any of the speeding tickets known as Prosecution Notices sent to it.

She did not appear in court on March 5 and the case was adjourned for sentencing.

The three speeding offenses were committed between April 16 and April 23, 2023 with two offenses committed on the M6 (Junction 3A) and one offense on the A46.

Speaking after the case, Assistant Chief Constable Alex Barrett-Evans said: “While most law abiding people engage in our correspondence to reach an appropriate speeding outcome, not all drivers are compliant.

“This includes Brijal who has shown a complete lack of respect for the legal system and her sentence reflects this.

“Checks carried out at the time of the trial showed that she was already disqualified until 16 April 2025 for a previous offense of failing to keep driver details.

“The court did not take this lightly and on top of nearly £3,000 in fines and fees, she was disqualified again for another two years.

“We hope she takes note of this harsh sentence handed down by the court and chooses to take responsibility for her actions and change her ways.”
