Three drivers, including Brent Crews making his TA debut at Road America, Mike Skeen join TA2

Since the release of our race preview, there have been some exciting additions to this weekend’s entry list. Here are a few more things to know about this weekend’s races at Road America:

Brent Crews Vol in the end makes its debut in the Trans Am TA class. After illness kept him out of the car at Sebring International Raceway, Crews gets behind the wheel of the No. 2 Mobil 1/Canopy Roofing Dodge Challenger this weekend, driving for Weaver Racing Concepts. Car no. 2 was driven to the GYM WEED Winners Circle at Road America by an appeal driver just two years ago when Kaz Grala he drove it to his first career Trans Am victory. “Everyone at Weaver Racing Concepts is excited to finally have Brent behind the wheel of our car; we can’t wait to see how this weekend goes,” said team owner Pancho Weaver.

Drissi Motorsports will field a third entry this weekend in the TA class. In addition to Tommy Drissi (No. 8 Drissi Motorsports/Franklin Road Apparel Chevrolet Camaro) and Keith Grant (No. 40 Drissi Motorsports/Franklin Road Apparel Chevrolet Camaro), Don Yount will join the team with the No. 7 Drissi Motorsports/Lucas/Mission Chevrolet Camaro. Yount, who previously drove to victory in the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen and earned a podium finish at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, tested with Drissi Motorsports at Sebring before the season opener.

“(Don) had never been in a car like this and he did a really good job despite it being one of the more difficult tracks,” Yount’s Drissi said after the test. “When he got out of the car, he looked at it like it was some kind of fire-breathing dragon and said, ‘What is this monster?’

Another addition to this weekend’s TA course is Raymond Kobs of Norwell, Massachusetts, who will drive the Chevrolet Camaro no. 00 Big Dipper Motorsports. Making his debut in the Trans Am Series, Kobs has experience racing Miatas in the SCCA.

In the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 series, Mike Skeen was added to the entry list, driving the Chevrolet Camaro race cars No. 17 Team SLR-M1. This will be his first time driving for Team SLR, but he has raced the M1 chassis before while competing with Peterson Racing in 2022 and 2023. Skeen had a previous win at Road America, winning the race in 2020 on his way to and ensure TA2. championship. He also earned a runner-up finish at the track in 2021.

The CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series hits the track today with two test sessions, practice and qualifying tomorrow and the race on Saturday at 1:05 PM ET/12:05 CT. The TA/XGT/SGT/GT classes will test tomorrow and practice and qualify on Saturday. The green flag will fly for that race on Sunday at 2:05 PM ET/1:05 PM CT.
