Delays at Paddington for the Elizabeth line, Heathrow Express and Glastonbury fans have been eliminated

Travelers in west London, including music fans heading to Glastonbury Festival, faced long delays on Thursday after a person was hit by a train.

The Elizabeth Line, Great Western Railway (GWR) and Heathrow Express services suffered long delays and cancellations after all lines were closed between London Paddington and Heathrow Airport, as well as to Reading.

GWR said all lines were blocked at West Ealing on Thursday morning due to “emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway”.

Lines have since reopened and services returned to normal after 3pm.

The incident affected services to and from London Paddington, which is on the route serving Castle Cary, the closest station to Glastonbury Festival.

Minor delays on four metro lines

Major tube station may close during Pride in London

Oxford Circus tube station could close on Saturday “at short notice” due to strike action as tens of thousands of people head to Pride in London.

Transport for London (TfL) has urged Pride-goers to check their journeys before setting off, with the capital’s transport network expected to swell on Saturday due to more events and planned closures.

Oxford Circus may close on Friday 28 June and Saturday 29 June due to industrial action.

National Rail says trains are now running as scheduled after major delays this morning.

Delays in west London extended until 3pm

West London commuters were hit with further delays following an accident on the tracks on Thursday morning.

All lines have reopened, but trains may still be canceled or delayed by 25 minutes until 3pm.

Elizabeth Line, Great Western Railway and Heathrow Express services are affected.

The metro network affected by the range of delays

There are currently delays on five lines on the metro network.

Transport for London has warned that there are severe delays on the Elizabeth line between Paddington and Reading, as well as to Heathrow Airport.

There are also minor delays on the line between Abbey Wood and Paddington. There are also severe delays on the Jubilee Line due to a broken down train at Canary Wharf and similar delays on the Piccadilly Line between Acton Town and Uxbridge/Heathrow Airport following a signal failure. at Turnham Green.

TfL said there are minor delays between Leytonstone and Hainault via Newbury Park on the Central Line due to train cancellations. There are also minor delays on the Metropolitan line due to a broken down train at Finchley Road.

British Transport Police confirm one casualty on lines near West Ealing

Police were called to a victim on the lines near West Ealing at around 7.30am on Thursday.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to the line near West Ealing at around 7.30am today (June 27) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, but unfortunately one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Dozens sat on the floor at Paddington, near Castle Cray services

Several trains were canceled at London Paddington, including the 8.38am departure from the capital to Castle Cary – the closest station to Glastonbury Festival. Dozens of people sat on the floor at Paddington near the boarding area for Castle Cary services.

Hannah Yates, 28, from north London, who was booked onto a train with four friends, told the PA: “I went to (a member of staff) and they said there had been a death on the line and wait 45 minutes so we wait for the next announcement.

“It’s frustrating, I would say.

“This was a day that’s already pretty stressful, so this just adds to it.”

Another festival-goer, who gave his name as Zac, said: “I took the Elizabeth line here and they canceled the Elizabeth line to Heathrow so I had a suspicion.

“We’re still looking forward to it – a few hours won’t make a difference to the whole weekend.”

Passengers are warned to expect disruption until 1pm.
