Salah’s Olympic role

Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah will carry Egypt’s flag at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics if invited.

The Pharaohs are determined to have the 32-year-old on board as one of three under-age players for the Olympic Games football tournament which starts on July 24.

Salah’s participation would cause Liverpool a significant pre-season break with Arne Slott’s side flying to the United States to take on games against Real Betis on July 27 and then against Arsenal and Manchester United.

Uruguay boss Marcelo Bielsa knows exactly how to get the best out of Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez. He explained it in detail.

Darwin Nunez is in absolutely magnificent form for Uruguay under Marcelo Bielsa. The Liverpool forward scored again in the Copa America opener against Panama, netting his country’s second in a 3-1 win.

But that’s just the latest. Nunez scored a hat-trick against Mexico in a pre-tournament friendly earlier this month. His form until the end of 2023 has also been ridiculously good, with goals against Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Bolivia (2).

Teamtalk claims Liverpool have a deadline in their contract negotiations with Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian has one year left on his contract – and no absolute guarantee another will be set.

Now, there is talk that Salah wants to sign a new contract and continue with Liverpool. There is interest in him, though, and that makes contract talks less straightforward.

Liverpool have been given a significant boost in their pursuit of Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori with reports that the Italian side are eyeing Sepp van den Berg as a possible replacement.

Calafiori, 22, has become one of the most coveted players of this transfer window, starring for the Rossoblu in the Serie A season leading to Champions League qualification.

The left-back was also in excellent form for Italy during the European Championship, making his competitive debut in the group stage opener against Albania and providing a superb pass for Mattia Zaccagni to score the equalizer against Croatia, which which led to the Azzurri qualifying for the knockout rounds.
