Bake Off winner shares how to clean ‘stinky sink’ as she explains what the smell is

We all strive to keep our homes stylish, but appearances can be deceiving. This was exactly the case for TikTok sensation and Great British Bake Off winner Nancy Birtwhistle, who was faced with a ‘stinky sink’ situation.

Despite its shiny exterior, a closer look revealed a hidden horror. Nancy has now issued a stark ‘warning’ to her followers, suggesting they could face similar filth lurking in their sinks, the Mirror reports.

In a revealing video, Nancy noticed that her sink looked “pretty clean,” noting that it was “white and shiny.” However, removing the drain cover revealed a shocking reality underneath. She expressed concern over a lingering smell, asking in her post: “I wonder what’s hiding down there.”

After pulling off the lid, Nancy retreated in disgust, uttering a dismissive “sin”. Armed with kitchen roll, she proceeded to extract a thick, revolting black substance. Resorting to a spoon, she scooped up the vile sludge, declaring, “It’s gross.”

To eradicate the “thick scum,” she washed it, placing a bucket underneath to prevent “flooding.” Her go-to solution was her “basic magic” kitchen cleaner, chosen for its “non-acidic” and eco-friendly properties.

She meticulously cleaned every part of a bowl, making sure to throw the waste out into the open rather than risk clogging the sink again. Nancy identified the mud as “tea and coffee stained soap bubbles” combined with “residues”, which together gave off a particularly foul smell.

To tackle the dirty sink, she used a teaspoon of green bleach and a scrubber to make it shine again. After replacing the drain cover, the sink looked noticeably cleaner. She ended her video laughing, saying, “My sink smelled and now I know why,” and showed a before-and-after photo of the cleaning job.
