New public holiday declared in July, but only for part of UK | My news from London

There’s nothing quite like a great British bank holiday weekend, although we’re sure many of us wouldn’t mind a few extra holidays added to the calendar. The lucky residents of Jersey are to have a new public holiday next month in honor of the visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, to mark the first royal visit since the late Queen’s trip in 2005, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The BBC reports that this special day off will cost Jersey taxpayers around £700,000 in wages to cover civil servants taking the day off. Despite being a British Crown dependency, Jersey operates as an autonomous island, meaning mainland Brits won’t enjoy the same holiday on July 15.

However, there are still a few public holidays left in 2024. Here are the remaining holidays for 2024 and the full list for 2025 in England and Wales:
