The police stumble upon a street attack and make the knife arrest

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after police say he came across a street attack in Birmingham. Officers came across the attack on Holyhead Road at around 4pm on Wednesday 26 June.

Police said a suspect tried to run from the scene after seeing police, but “were able to catch him.” Police then recovered two knives and drugs at the scene.




A 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested and has since been bailed while police make further inquiries. Police say the boy, from West Bromwich, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife, possession of drugs and assault.

Sandwell Police took to social media to share news of the arrest as they said they would be praising the work of officers this week. They wrote: “A man has been arrested after responding officers witnessed an assault in Birmingham. At around 4pm yesterday (June 26), officers came across an attack on Holyhead Road.

“On seeing the officers, one suspect ran away but we were able to catch up with him. Two knives and a quantity of drugs were also recovered from the scene. A 17-year-old boy from West Bromwich has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife. , drug possession and assault He was released on bail pending further enquiries.

“This week, we are joining other police forces across the country to highlight the hard work of responding officers. Officers work around the clock to keep the public safe and are often the first on the scene.”
