Wrexham travel to Sheffield United in the first round of the Carabao Cup, while Leeds host Middlesbrough in a Championship clash and Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth take on Cheltenham.

The first round of the Carabao Cup will be played in the week commencing August 12.

Other notable ties include a south London match between EFL new arrivals Bromley and AFC Wimbledon, with Portsmouth taking on Millwall and Chesterfield going to Derby.

When do Premier League teams enter the competition?

In the first and second rounds of this season’s tournament, the draw is regionalised, with the 32-team Southern Section and the 38-team Northern Section drawing against another team from their side of the country.

Luton and Burnley, who finished 18th and 19th respectively in the Premier League last season, will enter the competition in the second round, as will the current 13 Premier League clubs not involved in the European competition. The remaining seven – defending champions Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United will all enter the tournament from the third leg.
