An oceanographer brought in to help search for missing Bristol student Jack O’Sullivan

An oceanographer is helping to search for missing Jack O’Sullivan as police continue to try to find him. The 23-year-old student was last seen more than 100 days ago in the Hotwells area of ​​Bristol after walking home from a party.

The last confirmed sighting of Jack was on Saturday 2 March at 3.13am when he walked onto a grassy area at the junction of Brunel Lock Way and Brunel Way. A GoFundMe fundraising page set up by a friend of the O’Sullivan family has raised more than £27,000 and aims to offer a £20,000 reward for new leads who help “rekindle search efforts”.




In a new update from Avon and Somerset Police, the force says it is continuing to seek further guidance and support from national experts, including an oceanographer. Officers have already spoken to hundreds of taxi drivers in the area and reviewed thousands of hours of CCTV, but Jack has yet to be found.

A spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Detectives have carried out an extensive investigation since Jack O’Sullivan went missing. He was last seen in the Cumberland Basin area of ​​the city in the early hours of Saturday, March 2, after leaving a party. in nearby Hotwells.

“This investigation has included reviewing and reassessing over 100 hours of CCTV footage, conducting expert-led land and water searches involving multiple teams, including the dog unit, drone unit and specialist dive team, looking proactively and acting on advice. from national police specialists and issuing several calls to the public and the media for information.

“We continue to seek further guidance and support from national experts, including an oceanographer, and will follow any advice they give us.
