Man arrested after a two-car collision near Leicester’s Saffron Lane closed several roads

A man has been arrested after a crash near Saffron Lane in Leicester, involving two vehicles. The collision happened at 9.45am today (Thursday June 27) in the Heathcott Road area of ​​Saffron Lane Estate and has resulted in several road closures.

In a post on X at 10am, Leicestershire Police warned motorists that Heathcott Road was closed, along with Bloomfield Road, Apple Crescent and Oakleas Road. A driver of a car allegedly ran from the car and a man was arrested nearby a short time later.

A spokesman for the force said: “A car collided with another vehicle in the Saffron Lane area at around 9.45am. The driver left on foot but was arrested nearby.”

There are no other details about the arrested man. Police said no serious injuries were reported.
