Leeds United’s reunion with the former loanee has already been set as pre-season starts early

With less than a week to go before pre-season kicks off, two of Leeds United’s fringe names from last season have already been reunited this summer. Jaidon Anthony could be training at Bournemouth next month, but the last-term loanee has been seen working abroad with Whites striker Joe Gelhardt.

Anthony made 38 appearances during his season under Daniel Farke, but that resulted in just six starts in all competitions. Unfortunately for the winger, he competed with Crysencio Summerville, the Championship’s best player, for a starting spot.

Gelhardt had a similarly, if not more, frustrating campaign. The 22-year-old made 10 league appearances all season but finished with just 23 more league minutes than Luis Sinisterra, who left the club on September 1.

Keen to see more action next season, the pair were spotted training in Dubai together. Charlie Cresswell was seen working with Gelhardt last week, while Archie Gray was spotted at the same complex earlier this summer.

Elite Sports Performance, a training venue in Dubai, regularly brings together professional footballers keen to get in shape when they are not working with their clubs on a daily basis. Be it during the international breaks or the closed season, players have used the UAE center to sharpen up.

While Anthony’s future with the Cherries is unclear, Gelhardt has three years left on his contract with the Whites. After an explosive start to his senior career with Leeds, Gelhardt has struggled over the last two seasons, which included a loan spell at Sunderland.

Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph all finished last season ahead of Gelhardt, in that order. The Liverpudlian will have their work cut out for them before the start of next season.
