Oadby’s shopping street will be closed to traffic for four days

The parade in Oadby will be partially closed to traffic for up to four days from Monday 29 July. Severn Trent Water has been granted permission to dig up the road to carry out some underground work.

The closure will affect a very short stretch from the Chestnut Avenue intersection to the Post Office. But it will mean that no traffic will be able to get from the A6 to homes and businesses further along The Parade and drivers will have to use New Street.

Leicestershire County Council said in a statement about the closure: “A temporary traffic regulation order is in place for The Parade, Oadby, between Chestnut Avenue and the Post Office. The purpose of the order is to allow Severn Trent Water to safely facilitate the lock. Valve chamber reconstruction work.

“The order will include a temporary road closure. The duration of the restriction is not anticipated to exceed a period of four days, starting on July 29, 2024.”

Details will be confirmed by the council closer to the time.
