Plans approved for Birmingham scheme of 450 homes on former railway site | News

Rochda Group has been granted planning permission to build 451 flats in Birmingham.

The Great Western Close development in Winson Green will see the transformation of 7.1 acres of disused former railway lines.

It includes one, two and three-bedroom homes, as well as private balconies, terraces and communal amenity spaces for residents, delivered across seven buildings ranging from five to nine storeys.

Existing parts of the forest on the site will be integrated into the master plan.

In addition to architect Whittam Cox, the project team includes DPP Planning, MJM Consulting Engineer, BSG Ecology and Service Design Associates.

Mark Williams, director at Whittam Cox Architects, said the proposals would “greatly complement and enhance this aspirational area of ​​the city” and ensure a “sustainable long-term use of the site”.
