A new bid to build new homes on the former Bogans Carpets site

Another set of proposals to build hundreds of flats on a former Baltic Triangle carpet shop has been submitted to Liverpool Council.

Over the years countless developers have come and gone in an attempt to build new homes on the site of the former Bogans Carpets site on New Bird Street. In September 2022, a plan for American-style apartments was rejected by the city council and the planning inspectorate.

Now plans for 194 new living spaces in a tower block of up to 10 storeys will go before the local authority’s planning department for consideration.

Applicant Ascot Luxury Living Limited submitted a proposal for the Baltic Sea location, which would include retail space and coworking access. The existing warehouse is currently used as a gym for an amateur boxing club, following planning permission being granted in February 2016.

It was previously occupied by the Bogans Carpets warehouse building, service yard and parking area. The remainder of the warehouse is vacant after the business relocated more than a decade ago.

According to a planning statement submitted by Ascot: “The site is considered to be a highly sustainable location for development due to its accessibility to public transport links and the town centre.”
