Sheffield United still want Harrison Burrows amid pursuit of McCallum

Sheffield United still want Harrison Burrows despite their pursuit of Sam McCallum, a report from The Star has clarified.

Sheffield United are preparing for a big transfer window as they prepare to drop back into the Championship.

It’s been a disastrous season in the Premier League, but the Blades will need to put the disappointment behind them and focus fully on building a squad strong enough to fight for promotion straight back to the top flight.

A number of players have been linked with moves to Bramall Lane, including Peterborough United star Harrison Burrows. He is expected to be promoted from League One after a stunning campaign with his hometown club.

The pursuit was somewhat called into question as conflicting claims emerged, followed by reports of a deal close for left-back Sam McCallum.

However, The Star have now clarified that Sheffield United remain in pursuit of Burrows. Their rush to sign departing Norwich City man McCallum is split as they look to bolster their left-back options.

For now though, ongoing takeover talks continue to hamper the Blades’ ability to pay big fees for players. As such, Burrows’ pursuit slows down.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Wait and see

For now, it seems there is not much Sheffield United fans can do but wait and see how the takeover saga plays out before any significant moves can be made in the transfer market.

Of course, they can still find success in free transfer moves. However, cash offers for Burrows look like they will have to wait.

That is until either the takeover is completed or a large asset is sold and funds are raised to get the signs in the doors.

It’s frustrating for the Blades as they try to keep up in their bid to prepare for next season. However, it is a necessary wait, with the current holders obviously looking to avoid spending more on a club they are looking to move on from.

A well-deserved move

It remains to be seen exactly when the switch can be completed, but the step up to the Championship is a well-deserved one for Burrows.

He has long been a key player for Posh, coming through the academy and displaying his skills in a number of positions. However, he found a home at left-back last season and enjoyed his best campaign to date.

Burrows returned 12 goals and 18 assists in all competitions, also captaining the club following the winter exit of Peter Kioso.

The 22-year-old is ready for regular Championship football and there is great excitement for what could be next for Burrows.

It looks like Sheffield United will be his next club, but with continued uncertainty hampering transfer business, it remains to be seen exactly when he will be able to link up with the Blades.
