Beyond the Spider-Verse to be released ‘when it’s ready’

Spider-Man fans were devastated last month when Beyond the Spider-Verse was delayed indefinitely, but remained hopeful that we would still see the threequel in 2024.

Talk with The digital spy for Strays’ release, writers/producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller couldn’t confirm exactly when we’ll be able to see the Across the Spider-Verse sequel, but assured fans that it would be released “when it’s ready.”

“Those conversations are thankfully above our pay level, but I can tell you that we’re already working hard on it and we’re going to take the time to make it great,” Lord said when asked for an update on the release.

Beyond the Spider-Verse was originally slated for release on March 29, 2024, before being pulled from the release schedule entirely.

But Miller added that while we have an extended wait for the film, it will be worth the wait when it finally hits theaters to complete the story of Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy.

“What we’re trying to do with the movie is make it the most satisfying conclusion to the story that it can be and take it places you haven’t been before. And make you laugh and cry and be happy and think, he explained.

Before Miles returns to theaters, Lord and Miller’s next film is the R-rated comedy Strays, which might be about talking dogs, but it’s definitely not kid-friendly.

The pair said The digital spy about how they had to cut a scene with “too much poo” because they were afraid they’d lose the audience because of it.

“We kind of went to places that pushed that line, or maybe crossed that line, or ran past the line and kept going,” Miller added of the new film.

Strays is released in UK cinemas on August 17 and in US cinemas on August 18. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse currently does not have a release date.
