Hull City have signed George Dickinson after leaving Sheffield United

Hull City have signed George Dickinson following his departure from Sheffield United, the club’s official website have announced.

Hull City offered the youngster on a free transfer after a trial period in the latter stages of last season. He has penned a one-year deal with the East Yorkshire outfit, with the club holding an option for a further 12 months.

Dickinson, 19, is expected to link up with the Tigers’ development squad ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 campaign with a view to breaking into the first team further down the line.

Head coach of the professional development phase, Conor Sellars, said: “George trained with us for around 10 days and had two games in that time. As a staff, we were very pleased with his performances in games, but also with the character he had in training.

“He will be an important part of the group heading into the new season. He showed real leadership qualities. He is very aggressive in possession and has great ability in possession. He is someone we are very excited to work with and our style of play will improve him in certain areas.”

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Dickinson was brought in as one for the future by Hull City.

He has been on the books at Sheffield United for his entire career to date and has risen through the ranks at their academy.

The teenager has been a regular for the Blades at various youth levels but has not featured for their senior side.

He had a loan spell in the National League North last term at Alfreton Town to get some experience under his belt.

Dickinson, who has been capped for England at Under-19 level in the past, is a name for Hull City fans to keep an eye on next season.

Sheffield United made the difficult decision to let him leave this summer. He wasn’t the only player to leave Bramall Lane with the likes of Jordan Amissah, Chris Basham, George Baldock, Wes Foderingham, Max Lowe, Ollie Norwood all too.

Hull City are preparing for life under Tim Walter after he was chosen as Liam Rosenior’s replacement.

Ryan Giles became their first signing of the summer yesterday and Dickinson has now become one of their newest development recruits.
