Leeds United could sell £11m player permanently despite this week’s announcement

Leeds United finally completed their first permanent outing of the summer earlier this afternoon that Marc Roca joined Real Betis.

Roca spent last season on loan at Betis and, after weeks of dithering, finally put pen to paper on a four-year deal, with the option of a fifth, at the Spanish side.

Leeds will be hoping this is not the start of a fire sale in West Yorkshire over the next two months, although if they are to avoid that they will need to agree much more favorable financial packages.

Betis are said to have paid just £4.25m to sign the 27-year-old, more than half of what Leeds paid just two years ago from Bayern Munich.

While Leeds are happy it won’t hurt them in terms of profit and sustainability, at least one big sale is still needed to stay compliant.

The journalist shares an interesting update on Jack Harrison’s future at Leeds

Leeds could cash in on a number of players including Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier and, to a lesser extent, Charlie Cresswell this summer.

But if they are to make another promotion next season, they simply cannot afford to lose all of their top three in the same window.

As such, sales of unwanted players will be vital, and despite confirming his loan move back to Everton earlier this week, Jack Harrison could be one of them.

Although the deal that took him back to Goodison Park does not include an option to buy, transfer expert Graeme Bailey said LeedsUnited.News a permanent deal could happen either this summer or in January if Everton’s takeover goes as expected.

He said: “Yeah, definitely Harrison going for good is something. Leeds didn’t push it too hard because they know Everton aren’t in that position to do it yet. But if this takeover goes the way they think it will, even in January, you could see a permanent deal done for Harrison.

Could Leeds cash in on Harrison?

After three consecutive seasons on loan at Elland Road, Leeds made his move from Manchester City permanent in 2021 for £11m.

Leeds will be hoping he doesn’t spend that kind of time on loan at Everton before he eventually leaves, although he would be in a good position either way.

Harrison was handed a new long-term contract until the summer of 2028, just a month before Leeds were relegated 13 months ago.

As such, Leeds could easily demand more than the £11m they paid City to sell Harrison, which would be a very good deal for the club.
