The best beach in Cornwall, named as one, rises above the competition

There are so many good beaches in Cornwall that it can be hard to pick a favourite. Heading for a relaxed day at Gyllyngvase or going for a day of jaw-dropping action at Fistral?

We couldn’t decide either, so we asked CornwallLive readers to vote for their favourite, and well, the answer wasn’t exactly surprising. The winning beach is known throughout the country and is so stunning it could blow a deep-sea diver’s breath away.

9. Watergate Bay

One reviewer said: “Very special. It’s our third year in a row here in November – we love it. Yes, the weather is unpredictable – but we like it that way.

“Obviously, it’s the off-season – we wouldn’t have it any other way! The bay is beautiful, but it is sad to see how with each passing year the beach becomes more and more disturbed with debris – Fortunately, many people do a beach cleanup. as long as they are here, it will always be a ‘special’ place for us.”
