“Obviously, it’s the off-season – we wouldn’t have it any other way! The bay is beautiful, but it is sad to see how with each passing year the beach becomes more and more disturbed with debris – Fortunately, many people do a beach cleanup. as long as they are here, it will always be a ‘special’ place for us.”

Crantock’s biggest fan wrote: “This is by far the most beautiful beach I’ve been to, including beaches in the UK and abroad. Parking is for the whole day and it is a short walk to the seafront. When you first enter the beach, there is ice. whipped cream and a cafe. The water comes in a channel on the beach deep enough for me to kayak at high seas.”

5 . Porth Chapel

One Chapel Porth mega-fan wrote: “Visited here for a walk on the beach. Unfortunately, the tide and the weather were against us. However, we were treated to some of the best white horses we have seen.

“The site itself is owned by the National Trust and if you are not a member there is a parking charge, however it provides a useful access point to the surrounding cliff tops and nearby heritage sites. There is a cafe in the parking lot to offer snacks and hot drinks.”

TripAdvisor reviewer Lainey wrote: “Spent the day here. It’s like being abroad – clear blue sky, water, perfect sandy beach and so peaceful. No arches, no boats, no noise, just gorgeous.

“There is a small snack van in the parking lot and a nice cafe next to the parking lot, but it’s probably best to get your own snacks. The lifeguard is on duty in the bay. It’s worth the drive to the beach from the car. Park.”

One of the many reviews says: “I love coming here because it’s close to home and makes for a great walk as the beach is a total of three miles each way. Even in summer you can escape the crowds if you go to the middle of the city. at the beach lovely views towards the lighthouse and in the other direction towards St Ives.”

One glowing review says: “We love Perranporth beach – it’s so dog friendly and such a beautiful beach. We love walking around once the tide goes out and it’s great to be able to walk the length of the beach. The Watering Hole is a great addition to the beach and the town has a good selection of shops and restaurants.”

Settingsun29 wrote on TripAdvisor: “Amazing scenery. Beautiful rugged bay with some great little caves. Be aware of the tide before going down. We ate cakes in the cafe, which was really atmospheric. Access to the beach is a bit difficult because of the boulders. and stones, but there is an accessible path over the toilets in the National Trust car park.
