Kasabian’s Sergio addresses Glastonbury rumors as fans complain about BBC performance

Kasabian frontman Sergio Pizzorno has addressed rumors that the band are set to appear at Glastonbury for a surprise set this weekend. The Midlands band, from Leicestershire, headlined the Pyramid Stage in 2014.

Fans are speculating that the band could take the 6pm slot on the Woodsies Stage on Saturday, not only because of the anniversary but also because of the upcoming tour schedule and a huge hint from the secret Glastonbury account. On X, the ex-Twitter account @secretglaso posted: “Has anyone been bummed out all night?”

This could be a clue to Kasabian’s big hit, Club Foot. The band announced they will be touring in July and released a new single Coming Back To Me Good earlier this year.

The band, made up of singer and guitarist Sergio Pizzorno, bassist Chris Edwards, drummer Ian Matthews and guitarist Tim Carter, appeared on The One Show to perform the new song on Friday night (June 28). Host Roman Kemp spoke to them about the rumours, asking: “You headlined Glastonbury, have we heard any rumors of a possible return there?”

Sergio looked stunned as he remained silent for a few seconds before giving fans a definite hope of an appearance, although he did not confirm that they would definitely appear. He said, “Well, the water boys are always packed. They’re by the door waiting for him to leave, so you never know.”

Viewers were not all impressed with their performance on the BBC show. Nick Davis asked X, ex-Twitter: “Kasabian – flat? #TheOneShow”. Nick Beecheno lamented, “Oh, my ears.” Lucy C wrote: “This new Kasabian song must be satire.”

Daniel Leaper added: “Well this is awful #TheOneShow.”
