Leicester swap transfer with Brighton for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall STAYED after Chelsea hijack last-minute deal

BRIGHTON’S deal for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has collapsed after Chelsea entered the race in the final hours.

The Leicester midfielder, 25, has reversed his decision to join Brighton following Chelsea’s approach.

Leicester value Dewsbury-Hall at around £35m and are under pressure to sell to meet profitability and sustainability (PSR) rules and avoid further breaches.

Dewsbury-Hall booked his medical at Brighton this week – after the Seagulls offered £25million plus Poland international Jakub Moder.

The deal was advanced enough for Moder to head to the Foxes’ training ground in Seagrave for his own medical.

But Dewsbury-Hall has made a stunning U-turn in his choice to join Brighton in a bid to listen to Chelsea’s offer.

Dewsbury-Hall played under new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, who replaced Mauricio Pochettino earlier this summer.

Dewsbury-Hall is one of Leicester’s most valuable assets and the Foxes will receive a 100% profit from its sale.

The midfielder made 49 appearances in all competitions for Leicester last season, scoring 12 goals on their way to winning the Championship.

If a direct cash deal proves difficult, Chelsea will consider forming their own swap deal.

The Blues have discussed a possible deal to include striker Armando Broja in their bid for Dewsbury-Hall.

Todd Boehly’s side are also understood to have mentioned David Fofana and midfielder Cesare Casadei as part of the deal.

What this means for Chelsea star and England international Conor Gallagher is unknown.

Gallagher could yet remain at Stamford Bridge despite being linked with a move due to Chelsea’s PSR concerns.
