‘Stylish’ Leicestershire windmill in ‘highly sought after location’ goes on the market

A house in a former Leicestershire windmill in a ‘desirable’ location has gone on the market. Estate agent James Sellicks said the “characteristic” Grade II listed building, in Gilmorton, near Lutterworth, was steeped in history and in a “highly sought after” village.

The property is set over four floors and offers stunning views and a luxurious interior. The former windmill is believed to date from the 19th century and was “sympathetically” converted and later “stylishly extended”, but period features including stone flooring, exposed brick and beams remain.

Newer features include a ‘fantastic’ circular dining room, breakfast kitchen and dual aspect sitting room with brick fireplace and French doors. There are five bedrooms throughout the property, all with a range of built-in furniture including wardrobes, dressing tables and chests of drawers.

The master bedroom has a balcony overlooking the front garden, but the top floor bedroom is perhaps the best of all, boasting original brickwork and “fantastic far-reaching country views”. It is currently being used as an office, but James Sellicks said it could easily be converted back into a bedroom.

Externally, the property boasts ‘immaculate surrounding gardens’ which complement the views across the Leicestershire countryside. High decking around the house provides ‘complete privacy’, while there is also ‘ample’ parking off the block-paved driveway and an open double garage.

The former windmill is now on the market for £775,000, with more information available on the James Sellicks website.
