Finances and payment terms revealed after Leeds United announce transfer as ‘undisclosed fee’

Real Betis and Leeds United have today confirmed the permanent transfer of Marc Roca.

Both clubs announced it as an “undisclosed fee”, but it didn’t take long for the amount and even the terms of the payment to be leaked to the Sevilla media.

Estadio Deportivo have reported that the deal between Betis and Leeds has been completed for €4.5 million. The amount is expected to be paid in two installments.

As Roca is valued by Transfermarkt at €9 million, the outlet is confident that the Spanish club ended up getting a great deal. And because when he was taken on loan from Albi last season, the purchase option was 12 million euros.

Betis could have triggered an option to keep Roca on loan as this was possible due to Leeds United staying in the Championship. However, they took the opportunity to buy him at a good price and he signed a contract until 2029.

Leeds spent €12m to sign Roca from Bayern Munich in 2022. He played for the Whites for just one season and leaves the club with 36 appearances.
