Knife incident and sexual assault among crimes police need help with investigation

Reports of a knife attack, sexual assault and a robbery are some of the incidents in Bristol that police need help investigating. Many crimes are dealt with daily, and even those that have been ongoing for a long time can be solved in time, but for now it can be difficult to find witnesses or those with information.

Avon and Somerset Police can issue appeals to the public to make progress in serious crime investigations. These calls can be in the form of CCTV footage or awareness of an incident in the hope of identifying people who are able to help the case.

Police have recently shared appeals with information and photographs in relation to a number of crimes reported in Bristol. Appeals are removed after members of the public have helped identify them.

We’ve rounded up some of the latest CCTV and witness calls from the last couple of weeks. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact police by calling 101 and quoting the relevant crime reference number or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Teenager injured in knife incident

A 13-year-old boy was injured in a knife incident near the junction of The Horsefair, Hanover Court and Concorde Street, near Cabot Circus, in Bristol on Thursday 27 June. At around 7.40pm, police were called to the scene where it was reported that the suspect was part of a small group of youths who fled after the incident.

The 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital and is in stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing and his next of kin are aware.

DCI Ben Lavender said: “An investigation is ongoing to identify the suspects and our inquiries will continue at pace today. We will keep the boy’s family informed of our progress and provide them with any support they need. We would appeal to anyone who saw what happened, or anyone with cellphone/dashcam/doorbell footage that could help, to call us.”

Shop robbery in Southmead

Police are investigating a robbery at a shop in the Southmead area of ​​Bristol where a car was used to smash through the doors. The incident happened at the Morrisons Daily store on Arnside Road just before 6am on Wednesday, June 19.

Staff inside the store were threatened by an offender who demanded money and a quantity of cash was stolen. The offender got into a car waiting outside, driven by a second man. No staff members were injured.

One offender is described as being of mixed race, around 5ft 9in and wearing a green Mac-style coat and a gray cap, his face was partially covered. The driver of the vehicle is described as white.

Police are appealing for help to identify this man in connection with a sex offence. Officers believe the man can assist with inquiries into the incident at St Annes Park, Brislington, on Saturday 11 May.

The man is white with gray hair and is believed to be in his 60s. The investigation relates to an incident where an unknown man was seen exposing himself.

Woman sexually assaulted in Stapleton

A woman was sexually assaulted on Monday, June 17, in the Stapleton area. The woman, who is in her 40s, was approached by a man asking for directions to Blackberry Hill as she walked along the Frome Valley Walkway.

After giving the man the correct instructions, he followed Wickham Glen towards Park Road and sexually assaulted her at around 1pm. When the woman reached Park Road, she alerted a member of the public.

Chief Inspector Vicks Hayward-Melen said: “A thorough investigation into this sexual assault is ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with information – or anyone who may have been the victim of a similar offense and has not reported it to us – to contact us. . The suspect is described as black, about 1.8m, late 20s or early 30s, slim build with short afro-style hair.

As a result, additional patrols are being carried out and inquiries are being made to identify the man.

CCTV appeal to identify man after Staple Hill attack

Police are investigating a serious attack on a man and a woman in Staple Hill which took place on Saturday 4 May. At around 1.35am, outside a pub on the High Street, the pair suffered suspected GBH injuries during a disturbance.

Two men – both in their 30s – have been arrested and bailed while inquiries continue. Police have released two images in an attempt to identify this man who police want to speak to during the investigation. He is described as white with brown hair and wearing a hooded top and gray vest.
