The Leeds United favorite makes a key transfer point amid exit fears for Summerville and Gnonto

Leeds United have been told that even if they lose Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville in the summer transfer window, they can secure promotion back to the Premier League under manager Daniel Farke.

The Whites sit six points off the automatic promotion places at the end of the 2023/24 campaign after a torrid end to the season which saw them win just one of their last six games, meaning they should make the play-offs -s if they wanted to get straight back into the top flight of English football.

Despite a 4-0 win over Norwich in the second leg of their semi-final at Elland Road, they could not translate that momentum into a win at Wembley as an Adam Armstrong effort was enough to secure promotion for Southampton. After such a back-and-forth season, for it to end painfully at the last hurdle was a real kick in the teeth, but now they have a new challenge – to retain as many of their key assets as possible.

It’s no surprise that many clubs have taken notice of some of Leeds’ best stars – Archie Gray already has Premier League clubs knocking on the door and Jack Harrison’s loan move to Everton has taken another drastic turn, which had his wages fully covered by the Toffees. .

But two of their most important pieces may no longer be around as Summerville and Gnonto have received major interest from some of the continent’s top clubs. The former’s 21 goals and ten assists in all competitions throughout the campaign were more than enough to put him on Premier League radars, while Gnonto’s previous experience in the top flight added to his perceived value after a strong year in the championship.

If the pair were to leave, it would undoubtedly be a blow to Farke and his team, who have so often relied on the pair to get them out of tough situations – but former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that even if the pair would do that. depart Elland Road, they are not irreplaceable and believe Farke can rebuild the squad around different players if necessary.

“First of all, I’m not worried – the recruiting will be there,” he claimed when speaking to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast. “Leeds United is a huge club and always will be, and will always have that attraction to attract big players.
