The holiday season is here, and while lounging by the pool with a good book sounds ideal, it can be inconvenient with water splashes and the discomfort of holding the book up while sunbathing. However, there’s a solution that lets you hit your reading goals without ever having to open your eyes—and it’s free all summer long.

Audible, Amazon’s audiobook service, recently introduced an offer that allows Prime members to enjoy not only the first month for free, but also the first three months. After this period, the service costs £7.99 per month on a rolling contract until you decide to cancel.

Each month, subscribers receive one credit, although you can upgrade your subscription to include two credits per month. These credits can be exchanged for any book on the site.

If you start a book and realize you don’t like it, you can get a full credit refund and use it right away to buy another one.

But it’s not just your monthly book that you can add to your library. The Plus Catalog, available to subscribers, offers hours and hours of books, from classics to more contemporary options that you can find on Kindle Unlimited.

Additionally, there are numerous podcasts and Amazon Originals exclusive to the platform. Some book series are even bundled together for the cost of a single credit.

Our bibliophile Jada Jones recently took a summer trip to the south of France and decided to trade in her Kindle for an audiobook experience. She shared: “I listened to Yellowface on a road trip this month and it was great. When it came time to tan my back, I didn’t have to worry about interrupting my reading and that meant I flew through the book.

“I told my friend all about it and listened to some of the later chapters in our hotel room – it was so much fun to have live reactions with someone else who experienced the book the same way I did. It’s a great way to read when you travel.”
