All events taking place at Allesley Festival 2024 starting this weekend

Today (June 29) marks the 49th annual Allesley Village Festival in Coventry, which hosts a range of family fun and special community events while raising funds for local charities. If you’ve been through the village this week, you may have noticed a drop in local shops and businesses in the run up to the events.

Every year the festival takes over the village with music, open mic nights, school celebrations, sports matches and even a carnival parade with colorful floats. Today, the festival hosts the famous annual Scarecrow Contest and an art exhibition.

The festival will run from Saturday 29 June to Sunday 14 June this year, with this year’s theme being ‘The World of Sport’ to celebrate the best of sport, iconic athletes and sports stars throughout time. We’ve put together a guide to what’s coming up at this year’s Allesley Festival below.

Allesley Festival Garden Walks – Sunday 30 June 1pm to 5pm

Enjoy a stroll through the beautiful gardens of Allesley and see all the hard work the gardeners have put into the flower and tree displays. Tea and cakes will be served at The Scout Hut on Washbrook Lane from 2.30-4.30pm and there will be a plant sale courtesy of the Butt Lane Allotment Association.

Family church service – Sunday, June 30, at 10 a.m

Everyone is welcome to attend the family church service on June 30 at All Saints Church on Rectory Lane at 10am where they will crown Allesley festival royalty during the service.

Ladies’ night – Monday, July 1 from 7:00 p.m

Come and shop, enjoy beauty treatments, drink, chat and be merry at the festival’s ladies night. There will be some new stalls to see and buy, lots of treatments from Complexions and a fashion show by Glitzy Bits Boutique in Coleshill who will be bringing a ‘special guest’.

Quiz Night – Tuesday 2nd July at 7.30pm

Join us for a traditional festival quiz and become Allesley Festival eggheads with quiz master Damian Grote.

The event will be held at Allesley Village Hall with doors opening at 7pm with a prompt start at 7.30pm. The cost is £15 per team for a group of 4, booking is essential so early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. It is also recommended that you bring your own refreshments.

Carnival Procession – Saturday, July 6

The 49th Allesley Carnival Procession will start from the Jaguar Sports and Social Club from 11.30am where the floats will assemble and the carnival will depart at 12.30pm. Everyone is welcome to be dressed on the float, bike or walk.

• 11:30 – Floating assembly
• 12:00 – The judging takes place
• 12:30 – Departure of the carnival

• Antrim Close (for Allesley Primary School fete opening)

There will be road closures for the procession, with roads being opened and closed continuously to minimize disruption for at least 15 minutes.

Cricket Match – Wednesday 10th July 5.00pm

Enjoy an evening of family fun starting with the children’s game at 5pm. Watch the Allesley Festival team take on Corley Cricket Club in an annual match at 6pm. There will be 20 overs per side plus food and drink available where everyone is welcome to come along.

Allesley Festival Family Fun – Saturday 13th July from 11am

The annual family celebration will be held in the grounds of All Saints Church. Visitors can take part in traditional holiday games and share a picnic with family and friends. There’s also the chance to take part in arts, crafts, baking and horticulture competitions or admire the other entries.

It’s £1 entry with lots of free Mainly Music Songs and Rhymes activities at 12pm.
