Erik ten Hag talks to the player in person – Convincing him to join Manchester United

On 18 June, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg reported that Manchester United are once again in the hunt for Joshua Zirkzee.

Two days later, Corriere di Bologna claimed the Red Devils had made contact to sign the Bologna star, who has a €40m release clause.

On Tuesday, Corriere dello Sport said Zirkzee’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, could take his client to Manchester United as he is the only one willing to pay the €15 million fee demanded by the representative.

Gianluca Di Marzio now claims Manchester United have a “strong interest” in the 23-year-old.

There has reportedly been further contact from the Premier League to try and sign the Dutchman. Erik ten Hag has his compatriot at the ‘top of the list’ as he appreciates his profile and sees him as ‘one of the top targets’ this summer

Di Marzio adds that the former Ajax manager has held talks with the leader in recent days, which is the biggest development in these claims.

Meanwhile, AC Milan are still in the picture to sign the player, but the €15m agent fee is the major hurdle. The Rossoneri are evaluating other options to strengthen their attack.

Zirkzee managed 12 goals and seven assists in 37 games for Bologna last season.
