News from Arsenal’s starting line-up for Manchester United as Timber returns to the squad

As Arsenal prepare to face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, the early squad news is that Jurrien Timber is with the squad.

Reports on social media suggests long-term injury absentee Timber is with the Manchester side and has a chance of making the final 20, although there is no confirmation of that yet.

Whether Timber makes the final team or not, this is another step forward. The defender didn’t join his teammates in the last game against Bournemouth, but he did this time.

Arsenal have had a few injury concerns this week, with Takehiro Tomiyasu missing a training session to do individual work inside and Bukayo Saka wearing straps in training after a knock last weekend against Bournemouth.

Asked about Tomiyasu and Saka in his pre-Manchester United press conference on Friday, Mikel Arteta admitted they are among the doubts for the clash.

“We have some doubts that tomorrow (Saturday) can be resolved, because we have another training session, so we will have to wait and see,” Arteta said.

“There are doubts about the names you discussed (Tomiyasu and Saka).”

As for Timber, the defender has been in full training this week, having already played a few games for Arsenal’s U21s. We’ll find out this afternoon if Arteta plans to use him in the final matchday squad or not.
