Brentford have stolen a march on Arsenal and Tottenham after agreeing a £35million deal for Archie Gray from Leeds United.

The 18-year-old is now expected to see a doctor.

Brentford moved quickly and London rivals Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea made enquiries.

Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa have also checked on the versatile midfielder, who made 52 appearances last season.

Arsenal and Tottenham agreed to push harder than the rival clubs earlier this week, although Tottenham are also interested in Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.

Leeds are reluctant to lose a fan favorite like Gray, particularly because of his family’s association with the club, but admit he could bring in vital revenue.

The Championship side say the deal could be closer to £40m with add-ons for Gray – but other clubs could now swoop in now they have agreed a fee.

Gray is the great-nephew of Leeds great Eddie Gray and the great-nephew of Frank Gray. His brother Harry also appears in Leeds’ books.

Meanwhile, centre-back Charlie Cresswell is in talks over a £3.8m move to Toulouse in France.

Real Betis have completed a £4million deal for Marc Roca and want Diego Llorente, while Marseille and Monaco are keen on Leeds goalkeeper Ilian Meslier.

Jamie Shackleton is interested from Sheffield United.
