Rare update on a forgotten Liverpool player who hasn’t played a single game in six-and-a-half years at the club

It’s a summer of change at Liverpool after Arne Slot replaces Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout – and that also means the squad isn’t staying the same.

Slot moved to Anfield from Dutch side Feyenoord after Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool came to an end after a successful decade in charge.

Slot has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Liverpool and the Anfield outfit will return to pre-season training in July.

The 45-year-old Dutchman will take over a squad that will differ from Klopp’s final collection of players after several departures this summer.

Center back Joel Matip will leave when his contract expires, ending an eight-year spell with the Anfield outfit in which he scored 11 goals in 201 games.

Also leaving is midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who joined from Bayern Munich in 2020 and scored three goals in 98 games.

Mateusz Musialowski and Melkamu Frauendorf also left at the end of their contracts, while defender Calvin Ramsay joined Wigan Athletic on loan.

Goalkeeper Adrian has been offered a new contract at Anfield, but according to reports in Spain he could be set to join La Liga side Real Betis.

But another player who could be on his way out of Liverpool is someone who joined the club under Klopp in 2018 but has never played a first-team game for the Anfield outfit.

And that’s Anderson Arroyo, a 24-year-old Colombian defender who can play either as a right back or in the center of defense.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Arroyo is set to join Spanish side Burgos, ending a six-and-a-half-year stay at the club, and has hit a ball of fury for them.

Since joining Liverpool, Arroyo has been loaned out numerous times to clubs in Spain, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Andorra.

The defender joined Burgos on loan in January this year, scoring once in 16 games for the Spanish second division side.

And it looks like the stay is set to be made permanent this summer, with Liverpool not expecting to receive a fee for the defender.
