Chelsea’s approach could destroy Brighton’s deal for the midfielder

Chelsea’s approach for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could crush Brighton’s bid to sign the Leicester midfielder.

Brighton have agreed a deal to sign Dewsbury-Hall after a cash-plus player proposal was accepted by the Foxes, who must sell before the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) deadline on June 30.

The Seagulls have agreed a deal to trade midfielder Jakub Moder alongside a fee of around £25m for Dewsbury-Hall, who was one of the stars of the Championship campaign as Leicester won the second grade and promotion last season.

Moder and Dewsbury-Hall have already had medicals, according to Fabrizio Romano, although Chelsea’s late interest could scupper the deal.

The west Londoners have approached Leicester to discuss terms of a deal, with Enzo Maresca – who guided Leicester to promotion last season before taking over at Chelsea this summer – keen to reunite with the 25-year-old years.

Dewsbury-Hall scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in the Championship last season and is open to a new challenge as he looks to break into the England set-up. The opportunity to play European football at Chelsea will be attractive, leaving Brighton’s bid in danger of collapsing.

Chelsea are also progressing in talks to sell Omari Hutchinson to Ipswich Town for a fee in the region of £20m following a successful loan spell for the midfielder at Portman Road last season.
