Eligibility

To apply for the scholarship, applicants must

— You have an offer to study MDPH in Public Health starting in September 2024

— Be given an unconditional offer to study at the University before September 2, 2024

— Not to be funded by a research council, government, private enterprise, charity or any other similar organisation.

— You have not already studied outside your country of origin

— Be a fee-paying overseas student from a low- or middle-income country (see terms and conditions)

This is a competitive process and not all applications will be successful; a panel of senior staff members will select the strongest application. The panel will look in particular to see if applicants have:

— An excellent academic record

— Provided a clear rationale for applying for a postgraduate course at the University of Sheffield

— Highlighted challenges to academic and professional advancement and detailed how these barriers were successfully overcome

— Outlined examples of relevant work experience, including community and volunteer work

— Clearly articulated future ambitions; these objectives relate to the postgraduate applicants for which they have applied and how their earnings will benefit others in your country or region.

Students should note that the scholarship cannot be deferred and students who take a leave of absence will not be eligible to receive the award upon returning to study. The successful applicant will receive their scholarship as a contribution towards tuition fees as no cash alternative is available.

Receipt of the scholarship is conditional on your successful receipt of a visa to study at the University in September 2024. Your mode of attendance must be full-time. Scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive other university scholarships promoted and awarded to prospective students.
