The Liverpool Echo reports that Mohamed Salah is looking increasingly unlikely to be with Egypt at the Olympics later this year. The striker is certainly wanted by his country for the tournament but they need permission to call him up.

And it looks like they won’t get it. The Echo refers to a source with the Egyptian camp as saying that it is now “90% certain” that Salah won’t be at the Olympics.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has spoken out on social media after producing a brilliant moment for Brazil against Paraguay at the 2024 Copa America.

Alisson Becker, somewhat bizarrely, came under criticism as Brazil’s goalkeeper. He is still their undisputed number one, but there is a sense that he is not good enough.

For his country, anyway. Liverpool fans will obviously find this kind of talk a bit surreal – Alisson is arguably the best goalkeeper on the planet and one of the best ever to play for the Reds.

Liverpool are in talks with Newcastle United over Anthony Gordon – but a sticking point has caused the Reds to turn around.

The Daily Mail report that Liverpool have been in talks with Newcastle United this week over a move for Anthony Gordon. The England star is a childhood redneck and has been open about it.

And Gordon is aware of the talks. While they are not pressuring Newcastle to sell, the feeling is that they would very open to a move to Anfield despite his Everton background.

Owen issues a warning to Liverpool

Michael Owen has urged Liverpool to keep Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk at the club for as long as possible, warning that the Reds are only a “decent” team without the duo.

The high-profile pair, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, are out of contract at the end of next season, with no progress so far on a potential new deal for either.
