Rapid Vienna forward Fally Mayulu is set for a medical at Bristol City this evening, Bristol Live understands, and the Robins are closing in on a deal to sign the Frenchman.

A fee of up to £2.5m is understood to have been agreed with the Austrian club and if all goes to plan, the 21-year-old will sign a four-year contract at Ashton Gate and be the more expensive City transfer. since the arrival of Nahki Wells in January 2020.

It was reported on Thursday that a new bid had been submitted after City saw their first offer rejected by Rapid Vienna and it has apparently been accepted with a medical scheduled before the weekend.

Mayulu spent just one season at the Austrian giants after impressing in the second leg of the previous campaign with BW Linz, where he scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists.

At 21, the Frenchman is believed to have serious potential that he can continue to grow into at City in the Championship. Technical director Brian Tinnion revealed on Wednesday that two players have entered into verbal agreements to join City, with details being finalised.
