Joshua Kimmich is not interested in joining Arsenal or Liverpool as he has his heart set on signing for another club, according to reports. Kimmich is about to enter the final year of his contract at Bayern Munich and has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer.

Liverpool are said to be weighing up a potential move for Kimmich, while Arsenal have also been credited with a desire to land him. However, it looks like both clubs will be forced to drop their interest in the Germany international, who is unwilling to join them.

Kimmich is ready to reject any proposals from either side to secure a move to Manchester City, according to the Daily Star. Kimmich is said to be keen to reunite with Pep Guardiola and has told his representatives he is keen to join the Premier League champions.

The feeling is said to be mutual, with Guardiola keen to bring Kimmich to the Etihad Stadium before the start of the new season. His versatility is thought to be a major asset for City, who are looking for further reinforcements in their quest for a fifth straight title.

Kimmich, who won eight Bundesliga titles during his time at Bayern Munich, has consistently refused to sign a new contract at the Allianz Arena. He appears to have his heart set on a new Premier League challenge with City, but it remains to be seen whether a move can be arranged in the coming weeks.

It looks like Bayern Munich will have no choice but to sell Kimmich this summer, given that he is unwilling to extend his stay at the German giants. It seems a reduced transfer fee of around £30m would be enough to tempt him into doing business with City.

Guardiola managed Kimmich for just one season after bringing him to Bayern Munich from their Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig. He was clearly delighted with the versatile midfielder, who he heaped praise on just months before taking charge at City.

“I like this kid,” Guardiola said. “He has absolutely everything and can achieve anything he wants. He wants to learn and has passion. When I talk about Joshua Kimmich, I only say good things. I have a message for journalists: don’t say he can’t play in defence.”

Kimmich made a total of 390 appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring 42 goals and 104 assists in the process. He is currently representing Germany at Euro 2024 and has been involved in all of their games at the tournament so far.
