Latest Birmingham Bath Row crash, BMW passenger remains ‘critical’

Police have issued an update after a two-car collision in Birmingham left five injured, including one with life-threatening injuries. The early hour smash at the Shell garage on Bath Row involved a gray BMW 1 Series and a black Hyundai Tucson.

The driver of the BMW fled the scene after the 4am crash – which saw one of the vehicles hit the wall of the petrol station. Two passengers in the BMW were injured and taken to hospital, while three other people in the Hyundai were injured but treated and released at the scene on Saturday (June 29).




One of the BMW’s passengers suffered life-threatening injuries and was in serious condition Saturday. In an update Sunday morning, police said the victim was still in critical condition.

No arrests had been made as of 10 a.m. Sunday. A spokeswoman for the force said: “The victim remains critical and no arrests have been made.” Police are appealing for information and dashcam footage as they continue to investigate the serious crash.

In a full statement, they said: “We were called to a collision involving two vehicles at the Westside service station in Bath Row at 4am this morning (June 29). One of the vehicles involved also struck the wall of the garage.

“Three people in a black Hyundai Tucson were injured and were treated at the scene before being discharged. The driver of the other vehicle, a gray BMW 118, fled the scene. Two passengers in that vehicle were taken to the hospital, where one is in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.
