Manchester United insistence could revive transfer idea – Old proposal can be resubmitted

Manchester United continue to monitor the situation around Victor Osimhen and could revive an idea to trade him for Rasmus Hojlund.

That’s according to La Repubblica, reported by Calcio Napoli 24, who cover the situation surrounding Osimhen today and suggest that Manchester United have not completely given up on the idea of signing him this summer.

Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli this summer, with it being widely reported in Italy that he is ready to move on and perhaps take the step to the next level in his career.

Several of Europe’s bigger sides are keeping a close eye on the situation, although Napoli’s asking price for their star man has seemingly prevented any club from really kicking things off.

Manchester United have been credited with an interest in recent months, even, somewhat strangely, suggesting they would be willing to offer cash plus Hojlund to try and get the Nigerian to Old Trafford this summer.

The idea was quickly dismissed at the time, but La Repubblica state that it is not yet completely dead, even though Manchester United have also spoken to Joshua Zirkzee and his entourage.

“As decided some time ago, Victor Osimhen will leave Napoli in this transfer window. PSG and Chelsea always pay special attention to the Nigerian striker, but Manchester United also continue to monitor his situation”, they report.

“Yesterday, however, United had direct contact with Joshua Zirkzee’s agent Summit, which helped the English club to understand the cost of the operation, including salary, fees and the clause to be paid to Bologna, but an agreement for the fees must be found, which is currently holding the negotiations.

“In recent months, United have tried to convince Napoli for Osimhen, offering money plus the price of Rasmus Hojlund.

“A proposal that could be resubmitted, but Antonio Conte’s target remains Romelu Lukaku. Napoli’s attacking market will begin after the sale of Osimhen, with many names proposed, but with one big gap: the Belgian goalscorer.”
