Denise O’Sullivan could move to Manchester United

Ireland’s Denise O’Sullivan could be on the verge of a move to Manchester United in the Women’s Super League. The Cork native is seen as one of the best players in Ireland and her move to United would be a massive blow for the Manchester side.

The Irish star currently plays with the North Carolina Courage; she won two NWSL Championships, two Challenge Cups and three NWSL Shields during her time there. This would not be O’Sullivan’s first time in the WSL; she was loaned to Brighton in 2020. O’Sullivan also had spells with Canberra United and Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia.

According to a report from MailOnline, “the midfielder is out of contract when the Women’s National Football League season ends in November and would be available on a free transfer in January. But Mail Sport understands United are expected to make a bid for O’Sullivan. This summer.

“The 30-year-old, who is a lifelong United fan, has previously been offered a new contract by her current club but is believed to be open to a move. Mail Sport reported in December that several clubs in Europe were interested. in O’Sullivan before her contract expires this year.”

O’Sullivan has more than 100 caps for the Republic of Ireland and her potential move would give United much-needed midfield experience. If O’Sullivan joins United, she will play alongside her Ireland team-mate Aoife Mannion.
