The weather map shows a 500-mile wall of rain hitting Britain within days

A new weather map shows a huge storm on its way to Britain. Heavy rain is expected to hit parts of London, Birmingham, Plymouth and Cardiff.

The giant wall of rain will stretch for around 500 miles, covering the whole of southern England and Wales, according to new weather charts. WX Charts used MetDesk data to generate a map showing 7mm of rain falling per hour in parts of England and Wales, including Cambridgeshire, Somerset and Monmouthshire, by 6pm on Saturday 6 July.




It will feel even colder as maximum temperatures look set to drop into the low to mid-teens, with 16C in London, Southampton and Newcastle on the same date, according to WX Charts. The temperature is forecast to reach highs of 17C in Norwich, York and Edinburgh, with 14C in Belfast, The Express reports.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast for July 4 to July 13 says the first two weeks of July will be changeable, with occasional bands of rain moving in from the west and north-west.

A spokesman for the forecaster added: “The forecast period is likely to see a continuation of changeable conditions with occasional bands of rain moving in from the west or north-west. There will be much dry, warm and stable weather between the boundary systems, with the best conditions most likely in the south and east where winds will be lighter.

“In contrast, further north and west it will generally be windier and any rain that does occur will be heavier over the hills. Cloud cover will vary, with cloudier weather expected in the north and west, while clearer skies in the south and east Temperatures will be around or slightly below average for the time of year, but on sunnier days with lighter winds , it will still feel warm or rather warm.”
