Death notices

(nee Freke) Passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, aged 94. Beloved Mother, Nanny and Great Nan, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The funeral service will take place at Westerleigh Crematorium on Tuesday 28th May at 2pm in the Waterside Chapel, followed by a celebration of her life at Kendleshire Golf Club. Jack was a Senior Physiotherapy Tutor at the Bristol School of Physiotherapy. He died suddenly at Southmead Hospital aged 92. Jack will be sadly missed by his wife Joan of 68 years and son Mark. He joins his daughter Sarah, who died in 2013. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 23 at 1pm at Westerleigh Crematorium, Woodland Chapel. Donations in lieu of flowers will support Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary.

passed away at Sunnymeade Nursing Home on April 30, 2024 at the age of 105. He will be sadly missed by all his family, especially his son, Robert, his daughter-in-law, Beverley, his grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew and Becky, and his great-grandchildren, William, Jackson, Sammy, Elara and Cohen. He was reunited with his wife, Hilda. The funeral service will take place at South Bristol Crematorium on Tuesday 28th May at 11.15am.

Kathleen Charles passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the age of 96. She will be deeply missed by all her family and all who knew and loved her. (PAUL) Beloved mother of Ruth, Susan, John, Gregory and Ben, Rita Margaret Duckworth passed away on 6th April 2024. A requiem mass will take place at St Teresa of the Child Jesus, Filton on Tuesday 21st May , at 11:00. – the church where she was married in 1961. She will be buried with her husband Louis at Canford Cemetery. A former teacher, she will be remembered by her friends and family for her gentleness, humor and belief in social justice.

Death of Brian Henry Fussell, born 11/09/1930 died 10/03/2024 aged 93. Brian lived in Berkeley Street, Eastville, Bristol as a child with his father Harold, mother Olive and brother Colin. He married Cynthia in 1954 and they had their first daughter, Susan, in 1956. They moved to Queens Road, Keynsham in 1957, where they had their second daughter, Julie, in 1958. He worked for Bristol Council as a rent collector in Longwell Green, Hanham and Kingswood Area. He had a second evening job running a youth club in Keynsham until 1963 when he moved to Yate. He established a youth club in Old Sodbury for the youth of the area. In 1968 he went to college in Leicester for a year to do a degree in youth work. On his return to Yate he worked at Kingswood High School before taking up a job as Youth Leader at Fromeside Youth Club, Winterbourne, where he remained until 1989 when he retired. In 1976, his wife, Cynthia, died in a car accident in Italy while they were on vacation. In the late 1980s he married Diane and in 1989, when he retired, they went to live in Denia, Spain until he died on Sunday, March 10, 2024. He is survived by his wife Diane, his brother Colin and Colin’s wife Mary, his daughters Susan. and Julie, his grandchildren Seren, Natasha and Scott, Natasha’s partner Ben, Scott’s wife Natalia and his great-grandchildren Aria and Sebastian.

Formerly Bishop of Caundle, died peacefully on 29 April 2024 in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, aged 97. Devoted mother of Tony, Jenny and Keith. Grandmother of Karen, Mark, Luca and Persephone. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday 16th May at 12pm at Kingsdown Crematorium, Swindon, Wiltshire. Family flowers only. (John) Of Moorland Passed away at Musgrove Park Hospital on 25th April 2024. Aged 70 years. Beloved son of Joan, special brother to Margaret and brother-in-law to John, he will be sadly and greatly missed by his family and many friends. A Funeral Service will take place at the Church of St Peter and St John, Northmoor Green, Moorland on Monday 13th May 2024 at 1pm followed by interment in the Church Cemetery. Family flowers only. He passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2024, aged 76. A much-loved, grumpy and terribly grumpy father. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Thoy of Blagdon, who died aged 74 on 29th April. Sheila passed away surrounded by her loved ones after a very short and sudden illness.
