Warwickshire pub offering ‘good quality’ Sunday cakes with ‘generous portions’

A healthy yet indulgent steak dinner is the essential staple to end your weekend. And in Coventry and Warwickshire, there are plenty of places to enjoy a hearty steak, from fine dining to traditional country pubs.

There’s so much to choose from, from set Sunday lunch menus to self-serve carvery stations with all the trimmings. One establishment that offers a place to dine and relax while enjoying a delicious steak is The Crown at Tiddington.

The venue is described as a “warm and friendly pub” in the Warwickshire village of Tiddington, near Stratford-upon-Avon. Owners Mark and Claire Peggram have run The Crown for 12 years.

The pub offers a wide range of beers, lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks, plus a wide variety of pub classics, from traditional Sunday cakes to award-winning mud pies, with vegan and vegetarian options available. Bosses say their locally sourced produce alongside ‘quality ales’ is the ‘perfect combination’ to enjoy a meal with family and friends.

The Crown has two beer gardens, one to the side and the other to the rear. The rear beer garden includes a children’s play area, while the lounge bar includes a dart board, pool table, Sky Sports and jukebox, a “great recipe for a night out at the pub”, bosses added. The pub is also dog friendly and offers a free treat on arrival.

The menu includes traditional, home-cooked pub classics, suitable for a romantic meal for two or a family night out, with a selection of specials rotating each week. The weekly Sunday roast is served between 12pm and 4pm from £10.95.

The steak includes a choice of beef, lamb or Hereford pork or the famous mixed steak, served with vegetables, cauliflower and leek gratin, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Desserts include Honeycomb Cheesecake, Spicy Lemon Tart, Hot Chocolate Brownie, Homemade Apple Crumble and Ice Cream Trio.

The pub has a 4-star rating on Tripadvisor, with other ratings including food (4/5), service (4.5/5), value (4/5) and atmosphere (4/5). The restaurant also has a 4.3 star rating on Google reviews.

CheshireDes said: “Visited for Sunday lunch which was excellent. The food was of very good quality and beautifully served. It was so good that we visited the next evening and again the food was superb.

“The roast beef on Sunday was delicious with delicious and generous sides of veg. A very traditional community pub with good parking and a few minutes drive from the town centre.”

Susy said: “Had Sunday lunch here with a group, the service was excellent and the staff lovely. They made a delicious gluten free veggie nut roast, lots of veggies including cauliflower cheese, gravy and a Yorkie.”

Michael Chatten added: “A group of eight of us visited on Sunday afternoon for Sunday lunch and a few beers. The staff were excellent, very friendly and very efficient. The beer was very nice and the Sunday lunch was excellent (we all agreed it was one of the best pub lunches we’ve had).”
