The words ‘Bradford Live’ appear on the big screen of the iconic building in the city centre

The words ‘Bradford Live’ appeared on the big screen in the city’s former Odeon building.

It comes as construction work is understood to be nearing completion on the promised entertainment venue.

The project has been dogged by questions for months.

Last December, a spokesman for Birmingham’s NEC Group said: “The developer, Bradford Live, will hand over the venue to the operator, the NEC Group, by mid-2024, before the group completes the final fit-out in the coming months, the launch of the location will begin in the fall of 2024”.

But the NEC Group has repeatedly refused to reaffirm its commitment to Bradford Live or answer key questions when approached by the Telegraph & Argus – and the first two shows announced for the venue were canceled last month.

Last week T&A broke the news that Real Ale’s Great British Beer Festival Winter Campaign will not be taking place at Bradford Live during City of Culture next year amid lingering uncertainty.

T&A today asked the NEC group when a statement on the situation would be provided. No official statement was given.

T&A today asked Bradford Council for an update on the multi-million pound regeneration scheme. No answer was given.

T&A also approached a Bradford Live representative today. They said they were not available for comment.
