Teesside Tesla driver involved in fatal double-decker bus crash, which claimed the life of a 31-year-old

A Teesside Tesla driver was involved in a fatal double-decker bus crash in York – which claimed the life of one man and left five others injured.

The tragic incident happened on the B1224 Wetherby road when a white Tesla Model 3 and a blue and white double-decker bus collided near the A1237 junction at around 9.20am on Saturday 29 June.




A 31-year-old man from Newcastle, who was a passenger in the Tesla, was pronounced dead at the scene and his family are now being supported by police. The driver of the Tesla, a 32-year-old man from Teesside, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital. Three other passengers in the Tesla and the bus driver were treated for minor injuries.

Following the incident, the B1224 was closed for investigation but reopened at 5.25pm. North Yorkshire Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the crash, Yorkshire Live reports.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Witnesses to the collision or anyone with relevant dash-cam footage are urged to come forward without delay if they have not already done so.”

They added: “We also want to hear from anyone who remembers seeing either the white Tesla car or the blue and white double-decker bus prior to the incident. If you can help please email [email protected]. uk and [email protected] quoting reference number 12240115125.”
