A second man has been arrested after an elderly man was stabbed in Wigan

Police have arrested a second man after a pensioner was stabbed in Wigan at the weekend

A 19-year-old man was suspected of attempted murder and remains in custody for questioning.

An 18-year-old man also remains in custody since Friday, being suspected of attempted murder.

The 70-year-old remains hospitalized with serious injuries and is receiving treatment.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Bell from our Wigan district said: “Since this incident took place we have used our resources to ensure we can find key people who we believe are responsible for this horrific act.

“We hope our progress so far provides some reassurance to our local community that we are treating this with the seriousness it deserves and we would once again like to thank members of the public for helping us with our enquiries.”
